A PR Blog for b5media
Common Sense PR is one of the new business blogs being added today by b5media. This blog is in good company, with many excellent new and existing blogs either launched or in the pipeline.
Public relations folk are the Rodney Dangerfields of the business world. Like our HR companions, we don’t get no respect.
When a company makes a mistake, it’s often referred to as “a PR disaster”, or a “a PR problem.”
When things are going well, it’s usually ascribed to brilliant leadership, cutting edge marketing, superb product design, or a combination if the three.
With that in mind, I’ll be taking a look at companies today, showing how PR gets used to achieve business goals.
Managers who understand what PR can and can’t do, are in a better position to use it to their advantage.
And communications people who understand how their function is perceived by managers are better positioned to get that all-important executive buy-in to public relations efforts.
Look for some analysis, dialogue and maybe even a bit of humour as I continue the unending task of proving the value and limitations of public relations.

Congrats on the new blog, Eric. I love the content (of course) and the design. I guess I can get used to the ads. ;-))
I can’t complain, since I have an ad on my own blog, right?
Best of luck in your new “home.”

Your new home looks great, Eric. But I sort of miss that fancy green banner…I would have been here sooner, but the lineup to get into your new blog was so-o-o long, I did some shopping first.
Looking forward to your insights and wry humour to help us all make sense of our little corner of the world.
